Makers & Doers School brings together all the foundational elements of art classes through the lens of Design Thinking.
Classes
Our goal is to introduce children to the Designers toolkit - exploring Making and Doing skills, Listening Skills and Communication skills for children from ages 6 - 12 years old.
The mission behind Makers and Doers
Our goal is to introduce children to the Designers toolkit - exploring Making and Doing skills, Listening Skills, Team Play and Communication skills for children in Senior Infants through to Sixth-Class.
Make world-class Design education accessible to children
We aim to support both children and parents by providing monthly learning materials in video format to watch and enjoy at home with their children.
Create micro-communitities of Design Wizards
Our ultimate goal is to build communities of change-makers throughout Ireland and beyond. Utilising the Human Centered Design Network that our Founder runs.
Why learn with our classes?
We want to work with children who are interested in problem solving, and learning about new ways to explore creativity.
1. Observation
It all begins with being able to learn to 'see' and 'explore' how things work. We incorporate fundamental art and craft skills to help build confidence and visual communication skills.
2. Rewarding Exploration
Every lesson ends with a micro-reward ceremony to reward the children for being 'explorers'.
3. Making & Doing
No two classes are the same, so every class is fuelled with music and energy.
1. Learn through Doing
All our lessons incorporate 'Play' into the learning experience. For example, an exercise could be 'let's build a cafe' using card board boxes. We introduce the concepts of 'designing for others', theatrical role-play, prototyping, research whilst they learn about how 'experiences' are formed.

Our lessons have been written by industry leaders around the world
Makers and Doers is an initiative from the Human Centered Design Network, which is led by Gerry Scullion, an design leader and educator based in Ireland.
Within our international network we have access to many of the world's leading User Experience, Service Design, Customer Experience and Design Thinking practitioners.
Our goal is to introduce children to ideas that excite them about the making and doing.
We are looking for 2 x Facilitators to join our team.
Are you studying Art & Design and would like to join the incredible team at Makers & Doers School? We offer a competitive hourly rate, full training with Gerry Scullion, and access to our library of learning materials.
The role would involve working alongside Gerry Scullion on Saturdays from 09:00 - 15:00 at Le Cheile, Donnycarney in Dublin.
